Hello! My name is Kristen Smith and I have had the pleasure of teaching for seventeen years in Asheboro City Schools. Of those seventeen years, sixteen of them have been here at Balfour Elementary School. I
began my teaching career in second grade, but had been teaching third
grade for almost 14 years. I truly enjoy this grade level and this age
group so much. However, I took a big step this year and moved up to fourth grade. I think I am going to love it as much as I have loved third grade. They bring me such joy and I enjoy seeing them grow
throughout the year. It is also with great pleasure that I get to see these children graduate and go on to college.
I grew up in Maryland and that is where most of my family still lives. I graduated from Bridgewater College in Virginia and in 2015 I graduated with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education/Concentration in Literacy from High Point University. I am married to Neal Smith and we have two children Riley, 7 years old, and Grant , 5 years old. We love visiting the beach and just being together!
I love baseball! I grew up with it, played it and it was my father's favorite sport. I can't remember a time during summers that we weren't wathcing baseball on TV or attending a game with my family. Much of the things in the classroom are based on a baseball theme.
I
look forward in continuing this journey with so many children in my
fourth grade classroom! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to
teach and learn alongside your children!!
